HUNTFIELD DERBY LLC HAS BEEN FORMED INTO A LEAGUE TO MAKE THESE CLASSES EASILY ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL RECOGNIZED AQHA SHOWS AND/OR SPECIAL EVENTS TO HOLD AT THEIR SHOWS.  THE LEAGUE THAT COMBINES ALL THESE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED CLASSES IS NATIONAL QUARTER HORSE LEAGUE (NQHL.COM) 

 

All classes will have end of year awards for top ten overall.  Top ten for all classes will be presented during finals.  Location of finals to be announced.  Regional Point standings for each class will be available for sponsorship.  Overall National standings will be used for order of go at finals. 

 

Is there a membership fee?

There are no membership fees.  Once a horse or rider has entered a Huntfield class they will be added into the point’s database as a member.

 

Is there a minimum number of entries for points to count?

All classes need a minimum of three entries to count for National Points.  The entry fee cannot exceed 10% of the prize money offered including the per horse entrant fee.  There are no membership fees.   Per horse entrant fee is $15 per horse.  NQHL will keep the National points available to all to view at www.nqhl.com & www.huntfieldderby.com. 

 

What is the prize money payouts for the classes?

Classes may be offered at any of the four levels of prize money except $250 prize money is an option for freestyle classes only & Medal classes may not offer prize money.  Prize money scales are $250, $500, $1000, $2500, $5000.

 

Prize money CAN be distributed as follows: 30% for 1st, 22% for 2nd, 15% for 3rd, 10% for 4th, 7% for 5th, 6% for 6th, 5% for 7th, 5% for 8^th, Ribbon for 9^th, Ribbon for 10^th, Ribbon for 11^th, & Ribbon for 12th.  If the exhibitor count is less than 8, you only need to follow this distribution pattern.  Please remember to place your classes up to 12 places.  We award points to 12 places. 

 

Prize money may be increased by show management but not decreased after application is processed.  Show managers please notify office of prize money changes to guarantee correct point system will be used when processing points.  Prize money & ribbons is the responsibility of individual shows.  Prize money & ribbons at the finals will be the responsibility of Huntfield Derby LLC.    

 

How are my points calculated?

Medals : Points follow the rider.  May ride multiple horses but only one entry per class. 

Derbies : Points follow horses.  May have multiple riders.

How do I qualify for the Finals?

Derby Horses: Horses will qualify based on points earned in their classes during the qualifying period.  A horse may accrue points with multiple riders.  Rules & Points committee will decide cut off criteria for finals. 

How do horse shows apply to hold these classes?

There is an easy application that show management sends to us 14 days *** prior to the show.  An entrant fee will be paid by the show to Huntfield – NQHL of $15 per entry in the class.  There are many different levels of prize money point scales making it accessible to all size shows.  The individual shows will be responsible for the prize money for the classes they choose to hold at their event.  The Huntfield Derby Series will be responsible for the prize money for the Hunter and Trail derby finals.  Please see the show managers page.
